I remember the nervousness all to well. I had mine groomed a few days before also.

Both of mine came thru with flying colors. Max was a little more of a baby about it than Abby - which is odd since her surgery was so much more invasive. I picked both of mine up the same day of the surgery - my vet does not have overnight services. I took several days off of work with each of mine just to make sure they were okay (well, let's not kid, it was for my piece of mind!).

Neither of mine needed the cone - they glued the outside of the incision and used stitches that dissolved for the inside ones. Abby did not even seem to have any interest in her incision. Max cleaned his from time to time. (A little licking is okay.)

I did not let mine on the furniture after the surgery - I put an exercise mat on the floor and sat on the floor with them for a few days. (My butt was flat and numb by the time they were up and running as usual.)

Don't know if your vet is small or large - mine is a smaller practice and I asked the tech to text me a few photos of each of babies after their surgeries - got photos of them before surgery (with their heated blankets) and then after woke up. Little glassy stoned eyes were so cute. (They were more than happy to send a few pics since it stopped me from calling every few hours for updates.)

All of your concerns are valid and you will get nothing but support here.
