LOL...but it happens just like that. I got a black male kitten and a red (yellow) male kitten, and I already had a 14-month-old black adult male and his litter mate red (yellow) adult male. The black adult adopted the black kitten, and the two of them still snuggle and cuddle and groom each other 13 years later. The two red (yellow) boys did exactly the same, too, until I lost them both last year a few months apart. The female adult litter mate to the adult males wanted n.o.t.h.i.n.g to do with either kitten...lol...but that has always been my experience...that it is the males that take and train the newcomer mommy-less kittens. Very cool to see.
