I don't have this specific experience, however; it is my understanding that an Ultrasound excedes xrays for diagnostic purposes. I would think that if your vet was unable to locate it on an ultrasound than its not there.

If you really want to ease your mind call your vet and ask him to explain it to you better, or you may want to get a second opinion.
