Personally, I wouldn't do any non-emergency surgery without pre-op bloodwork. And no pain meds? Seriously? Wow. ZoE was spayed right before a holiday weekend & because the vet's office was going to be closed for days after her spay, I purchased extra pain meds (& our vet gave me his personal cell # incase there were any problems).
I just don't think it's worth the risk to save a couple hundred dollars....plenty of other areas I could go without & save to take care of my pup to the best of my ability.
