Tink's hair matted a lot when it was shorter. Now that it's grown out it's a whole lot easier to deal with.
Also important is to condition the coat after the wash/shampoo. Leave it to set in for 3-5 minutes then rinse out with warm water. I wrap mine in a towel if they get chilly while waiting for the rinse. Also you can do an intensive oil treatment a day or so before a bath, or even a few hours before the bath.
