With terriers, both sexes usually have lots of spunk and attitude though are the best of the lap dogs too. Some people really fear the tendency that some males, even neutered ones, might have to "marking" & I count myself among them. I cannot abide the smell of pee in the house so in 2008 when I came home with a 9 mo. old male, I was terrified at what I might have gotten myself into. But Tibbe was neutered a bit later and has never once marked in this house and, once he got his housebreaking training done, is completely clean in the house. He's had 2 or 3 "accidents" pooping when he was ill and that's it and he's 5 1/2 years old now. So, to me, with what I know now, I would say the gender really makes very little difference enough that I can discern. I think the differences are more the dog's own temperament than gender once neuter/spaying have taken place. Good luck with your search.
