I bought a heating pad 3 years ago when my first female was due to give birth... I have since had numerous litters with my females and have never used it.... I assume "mom's heat" is enough... I never had any problems...

Probably the opposite... My females are out in the sunroom... I had to put curtains up on the sliding glass doors recently because where my Wilma is positioned with her pups in an xpen... she gets alot of sun during some parts of the day... I thought she was going to have a heat stroke! My Lucy also has pups (her and Wilma gave birth 3 days apart)... but she is away from the sun in the same room.

I guess it all depends on how warm your home is and what time of the year it is... Plus I guess I do things differently than most... my female moms do not go outside when they are nursing... they use the pee pads... so they are always around their pups.
