When he is biting or chewing on something, gently say "no, no, no", then immediately give him a toy or something of his he can bite or chew on. He will eventually learn what is ok and not ok. During his first year, when he goes through different stages of his growing personality and teething, losing puppy teeth, etc., you will have to constantly reinforce this. It's normal, just if you stay on it and don't let the bad habits start, it pays off for a lifetime. Just like housebreaking. Lots of work for several months and then a lifetime of rewards.
