My husband and I have been willed my daughters rescued Yorkie. Poky is now 9 mths. old. From the start training was hard because my daughters family was far to busy to properly train him. Crate training was not going well at first since he was a puppy mill rescues and only knew the crate as his world. We are getting better with the crate at night. Once in awhile a accident, which I believe to be partially my fault.
We now have Poky who has been neutered recently in a 4 x 4 play yard in our living room. We have several pee pads, which he on the most part will use. We are starting to let him out for recreation times with a belly band, and he will sometimes try to mark while the band is on.
Poky will sometimes go out pee and then come in and use the pee pads. Help, first how will I be able to break him of the pee pads, as this is not an option for long term, second how do I teach him to let me know he needs to use the outside.
I am really trying with Poky, and love him to death. My other problem is that I have a Bichon (Malaki) who is 7 years old. Just the greatest dog. Never an accident in the house, just an all around good dog. No problems training him. I do not want Malaki to pick up Poky's training problems. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
