You don't have to be sorry you are excited--it is such fun to get a new baby. I think all unregistered dogs, or dogs you do not intend to breed, should be spayed or neutered. Other than that, temperment is the key. If the parents are good dogs, the puppies should be, too. My biggest fear when getting a yorkie was bad breeding. I had a llaso-apso once, I got him from a neighbor of mother's who no longer wanted him. He became blind, I think he was deaf, and I was terrified that he would bite a child. He bit me everytime I groomed him. I sadly had him put to sleep at the age of 2 1/2. I felt he was a victim of bad breeding (people allowing brothers and sisters, etc to mate just to sell cute puppies.) Unfortunately, a biting dog is the absolute worst thing to me, no matter how small, you must make them stop by age 2. |
