I don't think Gracie would protect me much, from people anyway. She gets so excited when she hears a vehicle outside that her whole body starts to wiggle. She does a high pitched whine until whoever it is gets to the door. Then she can't hold it back any longer and she may let out a yip!
However, when she hears things going on out back in the night time I have a hunter on my hands The other night we heard something outside the bedroom window. Gracie started to growl and ran to the patio since the curtains were closed in the bedroom. It turned out to be a dear that had been eating out of the bird feeder. She wanted to go get it! At least it wasn't a skunk this time!
