I didn't see the avatar - and am probably glad I didn't!
She would not have liked what I had to say about my Cali's weight--
Cali is 4 years old and weighs 3 pounds 14 ounces - in perfect shape - she was a show puppy being shown by a very responsible breeder who only breeds to better the Yorkie breed and to show. Cali had several points and was doing well I the show ring, but the breeder/shower decided that Cali was not going to "make weight" - meaning she would not make the minimum 5 pounds to breed and therefore the breeder would have a Champion that she could not breed because she was too small. Soooo, at 9 months old, the breeder started looking for a good place for Cali to spend the rest of her life. I was looking for a show quality pup, but had no plans to show and no knowledge to breed, and I'm a crazy dog lady- we were a perfect fit

Because Cali is so well bred we have no health issues, however, she is small ( and thinks she is a mastiff) so we have to be very careful and more protective than if she were a larger dog.
OK did not mean to be so long winded, but when people tell me they would like a Yorkie who is a small as Cali my blood turns to ice water -- only folks who know about the smaller Yorkies know the dangers that lurk --- such as HAWKS, and heavy doors that close too fast, or big feet, or someone picking her up that does not understand that fragile little spine.
I'm hoping the vet encourage the welling to take place at the vet's office because the vet realized the issues.
HAPPY NEW YEAR - I am so proud to know all the YT folks who are adamant about the breed and love these furbabies

And if you read all of this you are really, really, especially nice!
