I missed where you decided to keep the pup.

Xpena are great but if you have kids that play ball or airplanes like we do here a wire mesh kennel is what we use they have a solid plastic bottom that slides out fir easy cleaning.

I have 3 dogs Elvis our Yorkie, Princess our Miniature Schnauzer and Scoobers our schnorkie a mix of the two breeds.

We have 3 kids here 13, 8, almost 2, and another one on the way. It can work, but all our dogs are over 10 pounds.
