I'm not sure my way will help because it is still a work in progress with my 8 1/2 month old. I just praise her a LOT when she poops on the pads. If she doesn't poop on the pad, I will pick up the poop and put it on the pad and show her and say "poo poo pad. good girl." And, I'll leave it there for a little bit before discarding of it.

She has her spells where she will do good and then decides she wants to "show Mama" that if I would just take her outside ON TIME, she would poop out there. I know she is doing this because when the poop is not on the pad...it's right in front of the back door. lol
