Default Tips for 1st walk

Little J is almost ready to go out for his walk and I was wondering if there are any specific tips and tricks to getting off to a good start?

We have a harness and lead for him which he goes on in the garden and occasionally when tethered to us in the house. He does find it a bit of an annoyance but when distracted with running around our patio I've noted that he barely even notices it.

We're planning on 3 walks per day at around 5-10 to start with and then building up when he is more confident.
We live on a VERY busy main road, would it be worth driving him to a park to start with or is it best to get him used to the area he'll be most often walked anyway.

Any basic tips and tricks are very welcome. J is 11 weeks and will be 13 weeks when he can go out.

Thank you.
