It is very important for them to stay calm during the first 6 weeks of recovery. What method was used to repair her shunt? Surgery on the liver is quite involved as the liver is hard to get to. You may want to continue a lower dose of pain meds for a bit longer, rather than none at all. It wouldn't hurt if she is slightly subdued...
