I you hire a teen or a neighbor, just make sure they are responsible and mature. Like you, my dog is a member of the family and like a child to me. You just need to make sure they keep your dog safe while you are away. If they leave the yard on walks with your dog, keep away from large dogs. They don't know what could happen and the little ones could be the ones that get hurt. Keep them on a leash whenever outside, unless you have a fenced yard. Keep the gate closed if the yard is fenced. You may have to spell it out for them how serious you are about their safety. Not everyone thinks dogs are as important as we do and many a dog has been lost while in the care of a friend or neighbor. |
