What shampoo are you using? I think any shampoo made for dogs and/or yorkies in particular are made to be gentle enough to bathe them once a week.
Mandie plays outside a lot (many times a day..chasing her brother and such) so she needs to be bathed weekly. She has a Saturday routine of getting bathed, clipped anywhere if needed, blow dried, etc.
