I have not tried DE, but I read a couple of things that concern me about it. If I understand correctly, it has to be applied frequently and it is not good for animals or humans to inhale -- that it is a potential carcinogen.

I'm not sure how inhaling it can be avoided when applying it or afterward. Tiny dust particles float through the air, much of which is probably invisible to the naked eye.

Something to research and consider.

ETA: it is pure silica....which is not good to inhale.
