I think it depends on the dog. My bigger dog can break off chunks on the antlers so I don't allow him to have them...mostly because Mandie will run over and grab what he breaks off.
However, Mandie can't break off much of anything..just dust really so the are good for her. I won't leave it out for her when I'm not around, but if I'm there, I think they are just great as a chew.
