The most common problems with dog ears are ear mites and fungus infections. Ear mites cause itching that will drive them up a wall once it gets bad.
The fungus is caused by water getting down into the ear and staying there long enough for and infection to start. It can also be itchy and can grow into a painful and itchy problem.
Your vet is the best one to diagnosis which one is the problem. They will swab the ear and put the material under a microscope to determine what it is. Both cause a brown substance to grow down inside the ear. Many times you cannot see it until it is really bad. |
