I'm w/Kristen...def no balls @ the end & no brushing wet hair as both can damage the hair.
It's not recommended to brush human hair when wet either...you can use a wide toothed comb after applying conditioner. I have long straight hair & don't brush when wet & don't blow dry either & I have no split ends.
