I can not imagine someone else picking out MY dog for me! My Blazer was born into a litter of 6 and I KNEW that he was the one for me. Everyone who knew these pups had their favorite but Blazer was mine.
Around the same time that I got Blazer my friend recieved a "gift" pup from her husband. She loves her boy, of course, but she didn't feel like he was "right" for her. She had wanted a Yorkie for a long time and her husband thought that he was doing a great thing by surprising her but when they went to pick him up to bring him home she actually fell for a different pup that was there. It was hard for her, at first, to reconcile herself to the fact that she didn't really get the pup she wanted.
I think that the sentiment is great. I love that you have thought of this for your wife, but I think that it will be better for her and for you and for your pup, if she gets a say in what is to be HER dog.
