My Tibbe does this and I just let him unless he just goes on and on and then I tell him "Quiet". But I let him be a dog and bark a lot, pretty much all he wants as I don't live in an apartment. But I taught him to both bark and then be quiet on command so I'd have control when I'm home. When I'm not, I don't imagine he goes on and on barking though as he's not an obsessive or compulsive barker.
