I have personally found that the coat will grow when the dogs are kept clean (bath every 5-7 days) and daily comb out. I use a good shampoo and conditioner and don't use a detangling spray unless I cannot for some reason give a bath in my 5-7 day time frame. It's hard to grow the coat to look like a show dog unless you wrap it with coat oil, etc. I was able to grow Teddy to floor length but just had a haircut done (I posted a thread in grooming).
