We crate trained ours and had no problems at all.
Yes, there are alot of Yorkies you will see for $2000+. I can't speak for all breeders that charge this much, but I can say from experience, when you consider the cost of vet bills, extra food, care for the mom, whelping supplies, time and anything else that may come up with whelping/raising a litter, a pup costs the breeder waaaay more than $100.
And yes, often times it does seems to be that the smaller the dog the higher the price. There seems to be a 'fad' for lack of better term by many to have the smallest dog possible...not sure why. They are hard to come by because the breeding to get such tiny dogs is very often unsafe for the mother doggy and it is usually viewed as a big no-no. Very unfortunate....
