5 months isn't "old" at all. I adopted my baby boy at 12 months and we are very bonded. We did have an adjustment period, but it didnt last long. He knows I'm his mommy and he's never more than 2 ft away from me AT ALL TIMES. Sometimes I think we're a little too bonded since he doesn't want to go with anyone else. He does have his little group of favorite people, but it's very exclusive and hard to get into. I'm just happy to be on top of that list.
