Yes, that's a great list!
My other suggestion is to look at the local laws concerning pets. I.e., here in CA it's illegal to leave pets unattended in your car (not that you should because of theft and weather, etc). Also, some states have specific laws regarding pets in cars (I.e., in Hawai'i, Arizona and others you cannot have a pet on your lap).
Some places also allow dogs to be walked off leash. This could be a concern for larger dogs and your comfort level with them while walking your babies.
