If you are staying in a hotel room, and leave the room with the dogs in it; put the dogs in their crate. This will keep them from rushing out the door, if a maid comes in etc.
If you can put a lock on their crate door that only you two can open.

You can put a MEDICAL ALERT sign on their crates and tags. Often times thieves don't want to be bothered with a sick dog.

Don';t leave them unattended in the car!

Have a spare collar and lead for them in case one breaks.

Know exactly where the nearest vet is to your out of town location, put it in your GPS and know their hours of operation.

Pack and take a first aid emergency kit for your pups.

Have their latest pics on your cell phone. Take with you their medical records especially shot records and or any actual medication they are on.

If you are holidaying with family, at that strange home, they should be crated when you can''t keep your eye on them. Doors are opening and closing folks coming and going, you don't want them to slip out the door.
