Thank you all so much for the warm welcome.
J is such a cutie but he had a traumatic start to life I think. The breeder was run over and killed whilst walking his mother about 2 weeks ago when he was just over 6 weeks old. The mother went missing for a couple of days but was eventually found thanks to the micro chip. V sad circumstances.
We had been waiting for a specific breeder but our friend worked with the husband of this family(and we've met them & their dogs before) and we decided to help take a pup if we were a good match for one of them.
I won't lie, I love the appearance of Yorkies which is why we've been reading up on them for a while. But J was the least typical Yorkie out of the six in the litter but we instantly knew we we're a good fit.
Both his parents are Yorkies and four of the pups were total fluff balls and looked very typically Yorkie whereas J is smooth with only a little fluff developing around his chin (apparently there was another in the litter just like him but we didn't see him because he'd already found a home). Coat wise he looks like a much younger pup than his size would portray and everyone says he looks like a cross of some kind. I'm confident both of his parent are Yorkies (although because of the family circumstance I don't have anything official to document that) and whilst I don't mind one bit if he is smooth forever I just idly wonder if he will ever become fluffy like his siblings.
Any smooth pups at 8 weeks become more typical with time? |
