Ok, get rid of the pee pad! Crate training helps the dog learn to hold their bladder and bowel movements. MOST dogs don't like to soil where they sleep, that's why you don't want a crate that is too big for them. You want one that is just big enough for them to stand up and turn around in. Make sure that the pup goes potty before you crate him at night. You may need to take him out once a night for a couple of nights (make sure that it is JUST for potty and NOT for play time!) then after that the pup should sleep through the night just fine. You also don't need food and water in the crate at night for sleeping time. Maybe just a soft toy for pup to cuddle with and of course his blanket to sleep on/make into a nest.
