Do you have a baby blanket or a towel that you are willing to give to the pup? Stick it in your shirt and sleep with it to get it full of your scent then you can put it in the puppy's bed and/or crate. I'd also have a pup size toy ready for him to snuggle up with, especially if he is used to being with his littermates and/or mom!
