Is this a crate for playing in (like an Xpen) or for sleeping/travel? If the latter than you dont' want a pee pad in there, you won't want him soiling in his crate. If it is more like an exercise pen then just make sure that there are no choking hazards with him and that he is far enough away from walls and corners so that he doesn't figure out a way to chew on them.
