I think doing it before the first heat is a good idea. Also with Small dogs my vet said shots need to be two weeks apart. The one year Rabies shot and the three year Rabies shot is the same vaccine. Also when she gets spayed I would ask the vet to pull any baby teeth left and make sure you get the blood work before the spay.
