Is there any way you can warm the car up ahead of time? Also give her treats and act like it's a fun time. I would ease her into it if she's not used to car rides to once or twice a week. Is there any way someone can stop by the house to take care of her while you're at work?
I also advise against the dog sitting in your lap while you're driving. It's a big distraction and it could cost the dog's life or someone else's in an accident. If the car stops steering wheel will crush the dog first, and then the airbag would crush or smother the dog. Also, the dog could nudge something and put you into a different gear while you're driving.
Someone on here recently got into a car accident because their dog was in the front seat. She was staring at her puppy while she was driving and rear-ended someone. She felt very VERY guilty about the fact that she could have killed someone.
I'm not trying to scare you or anything. I just hope no one else goes through the same thing.Good luck with your little one.
