 What is the meaning behind your dogs name?
I know there was recently a thread posted asking if your dog was named after a famous person ... but I'm curious to know the MEANING behind your dogs name and WHY you named your dog that =)
Clyde's name meaning is after a river in Scotland. There is a "slang" meaning behind the name Clyde .... but I don't like it (bumpkin or square). Clyde is named Clyde because of my favorite actor, Gerard Butler. I wanted to name him Gerard ... but it didn't fit. I was going to name him Butler but everyone refused to call him that. So I watched all of Gerard Butler's movies (because I owned them all HAHA) and picked my favorite one. Law Abiding Citizen. Gerard Butler plays the character named Clyde Sheldon. I absolutely loved the movie & the name.
Dexter's name means something about "right-handed and fortunate"....Dexter is named after Michael C. Hall ... and my all time favorite television series "Dexter". I absolutely LOVE the actor & the show ... so I went with Dexter. It fits him perfectly.
I have a thing for naming my pets after favorite actors/movies. '
