Just educate him all you can. My hubby used to want me to get dogs when they were young (not a couple of weeks old but young) for the very reason this person gave...bonding. It took me a while to get through to him how the older they were, the better adjusted they would be and bond BETTER to him. People just don't know until somebody tells them. I sure hope you get through to him.
