Smokey House Equals FREAKED YORKIE!! The craziest thing happened here at my house about 2 hours ago. It freaked me OUT! Was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this..
I was cooking something in the oven and apparently something had spilled in there. The house became smokey. I mean, not enough to set of the smoke alarm, but enough to smell and see in the air. I fussed at hubby for spilling in the oven, but continued at the computer (on YT lol).
Then, I hear hubby call me from the other room, "Hey, your daughter is FREEZING! She's shivering like crazy!"
Well, knowing it was over 70 degrees in here (heater AND oven on), I immediately jumped up because I thought "shiver equals pain". I walked in the room and she's shaking uncontrollably and her mouth is open with her little curled tongue showing and she's breathing irratically (spelling). I was all over her in a heartbeat looking to see if she was hurting. I knew she had been eating dinner a few minutes earlier so I checked her mouth..no response other than "sheesh, Mom..stop". I noticed her tail was tucked so i thought maybe her booty was hurting (it has done this in the past when she got constipated ~ mineral oil has always solved that). It didn't seem to be that. Then I was wondering if maybe she had a UTI because yesterday, she did something out of character and peed my bed.
While trying to figure it all out, I thought the breathing thing was the clue. Then, I realized that it all started when the house got a little smokey. So, I put her sweatshirt on and we went outside (70 degrees inside and 39 outside). After sitting in the chair outside and holding her, her breathing almost immediately went to normal and she only shook on and off. By the end, she was not shaking at all. My final conclusion that it was the smoke came when I said, "Ok, let's go inside and get a treat. We're all better." She jumped up to follow me but as soon as I opened the back door and she got to the stoop...she backed away and started whimpering.
Well, 30 minutes later ...literally, after the smoke had cleared...all is well in my world again. She freaked over the smoke. I freaked over her freaking.
*sigh* That was a very long hour for me...
