Default Blindness & muscle weakness

My Yorkie is just a few weeks shy of turning two years old. Last week he had a sudden change in personality. He became very mopey and wanted to sleep all day. Wasn't eating or drinking and seemed very uncoordinated. The next day I noticed he had trouble seeing as he was running into the walls and stumbling around the house. His back legs were very shaky and appeared to be walking sideways. I took him to the vet and his eyes were completely unresponsive. The vet ran blood tests which came back fine except for his muscle enzyme level was slightly elevated. She suggested waiting a few days to see how he did. Took him back to the vet yesterday and his left eye is now responding a little but not enough for him to actually see anything other than shadows. Now she has referred me to a neurologist. I am so worried about my Chewy and was wondering if anyone else had a similar encounter with their yorkie too.
