  They did use the ameroid constrictor and it worked great. I was careful with recovery because I was so scared, I tried to keep her very still for the first couple of weeks - no jumping, no stairs. My little male is allergic to everything so he is on a hyperallergenic food, Royal CaninHP, and the vet (new vet!) said Lola could also eat that. It's just too hard to feed them separate food and she loves it, so she eats that. She can eat normal food, but I usually don't let her. I'm still very careful about what they eat and keep her on this HP kibble.
