One of you mentioned the different colors on your Yorkie having different textured hair.

The exact same thing was true with my puppy. His "black hair" was totally matted and unmangeable. I removed this "black hair" as quickly as it grew out. Following this terrible hair came a coat of very nice, straight, totally manageable silver hair. This new hair does not matt at all.

My pup is about 5 months old now and still has only a little of this black hair left around his face and ears. I can't comb through this either, but as soon as it grows out a little more and gets cut off - he'll have 100% great hair.

I don't know how old Snickers is - but baby hair can definitely be very different from the hair that follows... it certainly was in my case. However, at 5 months old, I don't expect the texture of my pup's hair to change much more.
