It is scary, painful and so stressful to be put in a scary room with lots of odd-smelling, strange equipment in it, a huge overhead light turned on, then have a big, strangely dressed vet with a mask on, maybe an eyepiece that magnifies and hair-covering putting tools in their mouths which are, I imagine, forcibly propped open with a device and be restrained with ties, covered in paper sheets, etc., as you can imagine. It's a blessing they are out and not knowing what is happening to them but scary due to the anesthesia and the intubation that often accompanies it.
And the meds that are administered and then ?maybe gas? can cause nausea and other post-op problems of CNS-related problems. They are wobbly-legged, disoriented and groggy, whiney and if 'tubed, their esophagus may be tender and sore or, goodness-forbid, stretched, scratched or torn. Nothing pleasant about dental cleanings except the benefits it produces.
I just hate Tibbe having them but without them, he'd have gum inflammation and dental decay I am sure, even with his regular brushings. Tibbe is a dental plaque former that brushings help prevent but don't stop it. I'm just so glad it's over for another year and he's feeling better today, though not back to complete normal yet. | I give Guinness LiquidFloss and TriFlossBall
I wonder if that is going to help us in the long run... Does anybody else use this??
