We have a maltese who just turned one yesterday and he never has problems - in fact, we never really trained him - he just watched Gracie and did what she did. He never has accidents. My other problem is that since they were both trained to pee pads, they cannot distinguish between pee pads and rugs or towels or anything material on the floor...so I cannot take them to visit anyone because they will pee on the carpet. Any suggestions?

OMG.. this could be my post..exactly... Desi is one year old and I don't know what happened but its like she never used a pee pad in her life. After being totally trained, she now won't go on the pad if she tripped on it !! The problem is that she won't let me catch her. I called a behaviorist but she wants $600 to come to my house to teach me how to retrain her. I've tried starting from the beginning but when I put her in the x-pen she screams like I'm killing her. I'm really at a loss here.. I don't know what to do anymore. I will be interested to see what suggestions you get.
