It really depends on the dog. They are all different. Uni's hair is silky and very very fine. Her hair breaks off from walking, scratching, sliding while playing, etc, so I never have to trim her feet, between her toes, stuff like that. The only thing I trim on her is her ears to tip the tops of her ears. Some yorkies hair grow really fast. Usually those are cotton coated. A true silk haired yorkie's hair will grow slow but it's supposed to reach the ground. Uni doesn't have good hair genes, so her's is never going to get that long.
