I think rescuing is great. I would make sure that you are prepared to spend some money on possible health issues as well as some behavior issues. Rescue dogs can be great dogs. My mom rescued a yorkie and he is awesome he was potty trained, walked great on the leash, and was neutered but he had a fear of any dog bigger then him and would snap at them and we had to teach him not to do that. He never bit just snapped his teeth together. He also had to have a dental. He is so funny it's like he never had many toys and will pull all of them out of the toy box and leave them in odd places. It makes me sad when I bath him though because he has little scars on his body. They have had him three years so far and he now has a light and happiness in his eyes that only being loved and cared about could bring. He gets separation anxiety a little but I think that is because he had three different homes and fears he will be left again even though my mom tells him often she is his last home.
