I have no experience with this...have never heard of this....dont know anyone that has ever had this done. Because of how extensive this surgery is, and what it possibly could involve, I would be using a specialist to do this surgery. There are things like equilibrium with the inner ear that seem to me could be disrupted, possibly causing a permanent off balance situation......in my opinion, this requires a specialist. And I would go for a biopsy before I would let anyone go that deeply into my dogs head, unless it was absolutely necessary. I have a great relationship with my vet, and I think she may be the first to suggest at least a second opinion with a specialist, and would certainly have no qualms with me having a specialist do the procedure.
