I am sure that gift from Maximo to her baby Yazmin REALLY put joy in her heart! If I were you Jason, I would go ahead and follow thru in the morning with that neurologist at Akron General, and see about getting her transferred. Your mother has NOT been treated with a well established, evidenced based, "stroke protocol" and that is very important. The mere fact that she has been without an IV access since admission, has had me terrified, son. She has been having chest pain that has essentially gone untreated....at the very least, she should have had serial cardiac enzymes, serial 12 lead EKGs, Troponin levels drawn since admission, which would have indicated if she was having a cardiac issue. She has essentially had nothing done to treat her. From what I think I am understanding from your posts, she is only going to have an EKG done tomorrow....that is absolutely minimal they should be doing for her. But that is good....you do not want them to get into invasive procedures and go way beyond their scope of practice. You call that neurologist tomorrow, speak to him and tell them what has been done, and that you want her moved where she can get the care she needs. Let him know what little has been done, and that she just NOW got an IV started this evening. Be sure you let him know this was not your hospital of choice....it is where the ambulance took her in the emergency, from the initial place. (Jason, tell this other doctor you have a cousin in Houston that works at Methodist Hospital in Fondren CV-ICU and she is the one that got you his name, referred to her by a neurovascular surgeon she works with at Methodist...that will stroke his ego and he will be more likely to accept her as a patient.) He will then tell you what to do if he does accept her.....you then tell her attending you have called this other doctor, and you STILL want your mother transferred asap.....this doctor has been referred by a neurovascular surgeon from Methodist Hospital in Houston Medical Center, and he has agreed to take your mother. You have to be bold and steadfast....dont let him intimidate you. You could OWN that hospital and they would all be working for YOU if something happens to your mother and her chart is audited by a lawyer! You are doing a super job Jason....you just be bold and forthright....dont back down. |
