I buy the mettle d rings at Joann fabric and in the same area you can buy the velcroe by the yard. I get the wide -- I think 2 or 3 inches. By using the wide you have a safer closure.
I also agree... when traveling or out of our little neighborhood walk I have a no*choke leather harness on her. I can still dress her by either putting the harness over or under her outfits. Some outfits have an opening... like a button hole for the d ring to fit through.
