There are commercial pre prepared dehydrated meat treats out there that come from grass fed non injected meat sources. They are not terribly expensive and stay good for long lengths of time. If you don't keep fresh food in your home dehydrated meat is a good alternative.

You really want grass fed meat sources that have not been injected with antibiotics, steroids or hormones. When the meat is dehydrated those contaminates become even more concentrated. You can also make your own at home even without a dehydrator. There are instructions posted here and at other online places that show you how to use your oven to dehydrate meat and sweet potatoes.
