The great thing about bully sticks is that they are 100% digestible. Other products are 98 or 99% and so sometimes a small piece can be indigestible. In a large breed dog, this is no problem, there intestines are fairly large, however, with toy breeds and such tiny intestines, it doesn’t take much to cause an obstruction. So yes they are very safe, but do supervise when they are chewing, some dogs will swallow a 2 inch piece and this could cause a problem. I don’t cut the little strings off, but I do set the tips in boiling water for about 30 seconds to soften them. I think the strings act a little like dental floss.
